Winter 2014

Take: over 180 Rovers, (young leaders in scouting), add Ashley Gorge Holiday Park and a couple of marquees, plus several tents, caravans and campers, put some people in bunkrooms and cabins add a dash of entertainment, a fair bit of hijinx and you have a recipe for a great weekend.  We got to be the proud hosts of the “Entertain Moot 2014”.  Although the weather was atrocious the Rovers did not let that get in the way of having a good time. Catching up with old friends and making new friends was a big part of the weekend, not only for the Rovers but their hosts as well. Thanks to all for making it a great success and for showing us what can be done in our park.

We had a bit of rain that weekend, we found it in the shop and in the garage when we got up Friday, then, once we figured out where it was coming from and we siphoned it out of our side lawn where it was collecting the draining water from the hill beside it, we managed to mop up the rest.

Eventually we got over Easter and the weather and started working on cleaning up the place before winter set in, we have managed to get some of the gardens tidied up and eventually got it dry enough to get the lawns mowed, but since then it has been pretty wet.  We have had a few hardy campers who have enjoyed the peace and quiet and we were pleased to see them, it is not quite the same as summer but it is still a lovely place to be even in the winter.

We are back into maintenance mode and looking forward to a break away to the HAPNZ conference and to catching up with our guests who enjoy Ashley Gorge in the Winter.
