Gorge Holiday Park - Review as published in Family Times Spring
2003
So
you want to get away from it all - leave the city bustle and its
stresses behind, maybe just for a day's outing or for a real "pick
me up" - a family holiday. But where!
Scratchy, bored children on long car journeys do nothing to ease
the sress levels - you need a quick fix - a destination you're going
to reach before boredom sets in and the oh so familiar queries,
"When will we get there?", "Are we nearly there?",
"How much longer?" set in.
Consider yourself and your sanity saved. So close and yet a world
away the solution waits.
Woodland, native bush, crystal clear babbling river, the song of
native birds, bush walks nearby, organised activities for the children
- Bliss! It's all there at Ashley Gorge Holiday Park, nestled at
the base of Mount Thomas Forest, less than an hour from Christchurch.
Take yourself and your family out there for the day or spend some
time camping at the well appointed camp ground; the Ashley River
is just a stones throw away, and hey presto, you've got yourself
the perfect setting for a wonderfuly successful family time.
Ashley Gorge Holiday Park offers you the ingredients for a great,
stress free time.
When Brian and Heather Norton, new managers at the park, first visited
the area they thought they;d found "their little bit of paradise".
"We just love the beautiful, tranquil setting" says Heather,
"and we've got lots of ideas, enthusiasm and plans for future
developments."
With young children of their own, Heather and Briand know just what
it takes to keep children happy and have developed a programme of
Christmas holiday activities that's bound to do just that.
Another family friendly policy is that children under five can stay
at the park free of charge.
The camp has tent sites, power sites and cabins. Good ablution amenities,
clean and spacious, equipped kitchen and laundry. A bunkhouse complex
caters for large groups and there is also a children's playground,
camp store, pool table, television and plenty of open grassed areas
for family activities and ball games. The river is great for swimming
and good for kayaking and fishing.
